Prosecco di Conegliano-Valdobbiadene D.O.C.

Prosecco is protected as a DOC within Italy, as Prosecco di Conegliano-Valdobbiadene and Prosecco Montello e Colli Asolani. From August 1, 2009, these will be promoted to DOCG status. To further protect the name, a consorzio of traditional Prosecco growers is advocating a protected designation of origin status for Northern Italian Prosecco under European law.
